Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has been chasing the winger for the past month following his dazzling displays at the recent Under-2o World Cup.
Sporting had previously stood firm, insisting the 18-year-old was going nowhere, although now it appears Chelsea have got their man, after the player’s agent claimed the deal was on the verge of being completed.
“It is not a pleasant situation for a young man to be in when there is a tug-of-war,” said agent Catio Balde.
“But I think the coming days there will be news. We are all committed to trying to resolve the situation so everybody is happy.’
There had been a suggestion that Bruma was preparing to go on strike at Sporting, after the club rejected Chelsea’s first bid. The player informed manager Leonardo Jardim he did no longer want to stay at the club, and he was willing to do anything in order to push the move through.
That seems to have forced the club’s hand somewhat, and now it seems a £17million package has been accepted.
The Blues will play £10million up front, with another £7million in add ons and bonus payments over the coming seasons.
