Chelsea closing in on £30m AC Milan star in Italian revolution

Chelsea are reportedly looking increasingly likely to land the £30m signing of AC Milan defender Alessio Romagnoli, report ITA Sport Press.

The Italian defender only moved to the San Siro six months ago, having arrived in a €25m deal from Roma.

However, he has impressed at the heart of their defence and at just 21 years of age, emerged as one of the top defensive prospects in Europe.

The Blues infamously tried to land John Stones over the summer, who has a similar playing style to the Italian, though could not force through a deal.

Following the news that Stamford stalwart John Terry will not be extending his deal in West London, the fallen Premier League champions are on the hunt for reinforcements.

Current Italy manager Antonio Conte is fast becoming the favourite to land the permanent manager’s position with the Blues, though he has not yet called the youngster up from the Italian under-21 setup.
