Chelsea confident of beating Man United to 25-goal striker

Chelsea are confident of beating Manchester United for the signature of Everton star Romelu Lukaku, according to reports from the Mirror.

Lukaku has been heavily linked with a move away from Goodison Park in recent weeks, with incoming Blues manager Antonio Conte thought to be hoping to lure the Belgium international to London before the start of the new campaign.

This transfer would be a huge U-turn from Lukaku, who only left Stamford Bridge two years ago for £28million after struggling to break into the first-team under Jose Mourinho.

However, Mourinho, who has been confirmed as the new Man United boss, is also interested in Lukaku’s services, despite letting him go in the summer of 2014.

But Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich are also keen on the 23-year-old, and the European giants can offer Champions League football next term, something both Man United and Chelsea don’t have.

Lukaku has made 46 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring 25 goals.
