The Real Madrid defender has become a regular in the starting line-up this season, impressing for the Spanish giants at just the age of 20.
The Blues could have a flurry of changes, with Madrid reportedly eyeing up David Luiz. The Brazilian has been impressive this season, but it is expected that Jose Mourinho is not a fan of his comical antics. Mourinho is set to become the new Chelsea manager, and is reportedly ready to offload Luiz.
That will pave a gap for Varane, who has been impressive under the Portuguese manager at the Bernabeu all season.
The French defender was grateful for everything Mourinho had done at Madrid:
“I have to thank him – my coach – for the confidence he has given to me and his help in improving me as a player,” Varane told Spanish paper AS recently.
Chelsea have just finished their post-season tour of the United States, where they lost both matches against Manchester City.
