Alexandre Pato could be a Chelsea player within “two or three days”, according to his manager at Corinthians, Tite.
The Brazilian striker’s name has been frequenting transfer rumour mills for much of the last couple of months, with big clubs such as Liverpool and Manchester United, among others, having been aligned with moves for his signature.
Reports yesterday suggested that Chelsea had moved into pole position for the 26-year-old with his agent having travelled to London to put the pieces in place for a switch, and now Tite has told Globo that a deal could go ahead within the coming days:
When questioned about Pato’s move to Chelsea, he said:
“Maybe in two or three days, you journalists will have an answer about Pato. A response from me won’t be needed.”
Pato was once one of the planet’s most feared young strikers, but his spell with AC Milan was curtailed by a series of injury set-backs.
He has, however, shone since a move back to his homeland in 2013, albeit Corinthians have loaned him to rivals Sao Paulo for the last two seasons.
