Antonio Conte has told Chelsea officials that he wants to bring Roma’s sporting director Walter Sabatini and the club’s midfield juggernaut Radja Nainggolan with him to the club if he joins this summer, according to reports from The Express.
The Italian now appears to be the favourite to succeed Guus Hiddink at the end of the season when the veteran Dutchman’s interim spell ends, with a ‘deal in principle’ thought to have been agreed between the club and the Azzurri coach.
With Chelsea having struggled this season an overhaul is largely expected, and Conte has reportedly told them that Sabatini and Nainggolan will be central to his plans going forward.
Sabatini is well-respected within Serie A after helping Roma to re-emerge as a genuine force in Italian football and could assist the 46-year-old with matters off the field.
Nainggolan is an energetic and combative central midfielder and is a player Conte knows much about from his spell working in Italy.
