Chelsea could sacrifice star man to land world’s best player

Chelsea could use Real Madrid’s interest in Eden Hazard to facilitate a move for Cristiano Ronaldo, according to reports from The Independent.

The Blues have endured a woeful start to the current season with seven losses from their opening 12 games, during which time their Belgian star has gone from being the best player in English football to a somewhat peripheral figure under Jose Mourinho.

The Portuguese coach has already publically criticised Hazard this term, which has led to suggestions that the player himself is considering a move away from Stamford Bridge in 2016.

And reports claim that Chelsea could use the situation to lure Ballon d’Or holder Ronaldo to London.

Real are thought to be one of the elite sides considering Hazard as a transfer option, while Ronaldo is a target for the English giants.

As such, a part-exchange deal could go ahead, and the presence of super agent Jorge Mendes – who represents CR7 and Mourinho – could smooth negotiations.
