Chelsea enter race for Ukrainian star

Chelsea are considering a £12m summer move for Dinamo Kiev winger Andriy Yarmolenko, according to reports from the Daily Mail.

The Ukraine international is thought of as one of his nation’s top talents, and has been on the radars of both Liverpool and Arsenal in recent times.

But with neither team having stepped up potential swoops. Chelsea are now seen as frontrunners.

Kiev were holding out for around £20m for their man in January, however their demands are rumoured to have dipped since then with the realisation that they may be unable to keep their star away from one of Europe’s top leagues for much longer.

Yarmolenko, 24, is thought to have some reservations about leaving his homeland, but Roman Abramovich’s connections with the region may smooth over any issues.

At 6ft. 2”, he is a slightly unconventional wide-man, but his scoring record for Dinamo has been impressive for some time, with his tally currently at 54 goals in 146 games for his current club.

Alongside fellow Premier League target Yevhen Konoplyanka, Yarmolenko is considered to be one of the shining lights of Ukrainian football.
