Chelsea manager Antonio Conte thinks there’s a “great difference” between Nathaniel Chalobah and recently signed Chelsea arrival, Tiemoue Bakayoko. The Blues let the England youth international join Watford for a small fee of around £5m.

When Conte was asked whether the signing of former Monaco star had sent out a negative message to Chalobah, he iterated that there’s a huge difference between the two players.

He said: “I think, honestly, at this moment there is a great difference between the two players.

“You are talking about one player who has played with Monaco, who has maybe 100 appearances for that club. He has played in the Champions League and has played regularly.

“Try to understand the difference before you judge. People who do, do not understand the difference.”

Conte also insists that Bakayoko is an upgrade citing his experience of winning major honours and competing in major competitions like the Champions League.

Chalobah, who’s been with the Blues for 7 years, has moved to the Hornets on a five-year deal, and returns to the club he was loaned out to during the 2012-13 season.

The 22-year old will wear the number 14 at Watford, and could make his Premier League debut for the Hornets in their first game of the 2017-18 season against Liverpool.

Chelsea is set to fight Watford on the 20th of August, with Chalobah being the 10th favourite player for PFA Young Player of the Year according to CrownBet.
