Chelsea eye experienced trio as wantaway star nears exit

Chelsea are looking at QPR’s Rob Green, Asmir Begovic of Stoke and Norwich’s John Ruddy as they plot for life after Petr Cech, according to reports from The Express.

The Blues look set to lose their back-up goalkeeper in the coming weeks, with the Czech Republic international having already confessed that he’s not willing to spend another season as Thibaut Courtois’ reserve.

Arsenal are believed to be closing in on the 33-year-old’s signature, and reports claim that Chelsea are now looking at options to replace him.

Although Courtois is one of the best goalies in the Premier League, Jose Mouirnho will need another option, with the Blues currently likely to have to turn to rookie Jamal Blackman as No.2 should Cech leave.

Green, Ruddy and Begovic are all thought to be on the Londoners’ shortlist, with the experienced trio seen as good potential stand-ins.

Green was recently relegated with QPR, Ruddy helped Norwich to promotion via the Championship play-offs and Begovic has been Stoke’s main glovesman for some time.
