Chelsea eye Juventus ace

Chelsea have set their sights on Juventus defender Stephan Lichtsteiner, according to reports from talkSPORT.

The Swiss international recently picked up his third successive Serie A winner’s medal with the Old Lady, but his future in Turin is far from clear.

With the season now finished, the 30-year-old is about to enter the final year of his contract and as of yet there is now agreement in place to keep him at the club.

As a result the Blues are pondering a £6.5m offer as they consider full-back additions.

Lichtsteiner is able to play on the right side of the backline or in a more advanced wing-back role and has long been thought of as one of Italian football’s top options in his given position after emerging at Lazio.

Chelsea have been watching the experienced ace – who is set to feature at the World Cup this summer – for the past few years, and have been linked with moves for his signature on multiple occasions.

Juve may look to keep him at the club, but the increased wages on offer in English football could be enough to persuade the powerful defender to opt for a Premier League switch.
