The Blues have been aligned with Stones for some time, with John Terry’s advancing years, he’s now 34, an issue at Stamford Bridge.
The young Toffees star could be a long-term replacement for the West London skipper, and has already been tipped to be a regular for England in the coming years.
Stones has made 82 appearances for Everton, 28 of which came last season in what was a disappointing campaign on the whole on the blue half of Merseyside.
