Chelsea announced on Saturday that Alvaro Morata will make his loan move to Atletico Madrid permanent, having agreed terms with the Spanish club for his transfer.

The Spaniard joined the La Liga side on an 18 month loan deal in January but will now not make a return to Stamford Bridge.

Morata arrived in London ahead of the 2017/18 season and made 72 appearances for the Blues, scoring 24 goals, but could never quite establish himself as their main striker.

Could Frank Lampard's inexperience cost Chelsea next season. One Derby fan explains why it will in the video below...

Olivier Giroud was signed in 2018 to compete for the position and last season Eden Hazard emerged as the primary pick through the middle of Chelsea's attack.

Given he cost the club a reported £60m, he didn't live up to his potential as a long-term mainstay in the first-team.

His move to Atletico resulted in six league goals in 15 appearances and clearly they think he is worth investing in ahead of the new campaign.

Chelsea fans though are keen to see the back of him, with many taking to Twitter to share their thoughts on the announcement...
