Chelsea fans are hoping Michy Batshuayi stays beyond January transfer window

Chelsea breezed through to the fifth round of the FA Cup on Sunday, beating Newcastle United 3-0 at Stamford Bridge.

A first half double from Michy Batshuayi and a second half effort from Marcos Alonso secured progression, with Antonio Conte’s side producing a much improved performance after mid-week defeat to Arsenal.

Batshuayi has received criticism for failing to make himself a regular starter under Conte but performances like Sunday’s will only help him continue to win over fans, who were delighted with his contribution against Newcastle.

Supporters are now pleading with the club not to let him leave this January, with speculation mounting over the last week that the Blues are seeking to replace his role as back-up to Alvaro Morata.

Rated at £22.5m by Transfermarkt, the Blues could likely get a decent fee for the Belgian forward, but with three goals and an assist in his last four appearances, is he finally turning a corner?
