Marcos Alonso has become a fan favourite among the Chelsea following over the past few seasons.

The 27-year-old, who is valued at £36m by Transfermarkt, signed for the Blues from Fiorentina in the summer of 2016.

Since then he has become a crucial part of the team, perfecting the wing-back role.

After Maurizio Sarri took over from Antonio Conte in the summer, the formation was tweaked.

His predecessor tend to play with three at the back, while Sarri has out in defence with two attacking full-backs.

Alonso has been a regular in the lineup so far, and as a reward for his performances at club level, the left-sided star was handed his international debut with Spain on Saturday evening.

Under new head coach Luis Enrique, the Chelsea ace played 87 minutes of his side's Nations League match against England.

La Roja ended the contest with victory as they earned a 2-1 triumph, with Saul Niguez and Rodrigo getting on the scoresheet.

On Reddit and Twitter, some Chelsea fans posted their thoughts.
