Maurizio Sarri etched his name into history books on Sunday as Chelsea‘s 0-0 stalemate with Everton saw his unbeaten record extended to 12 games: the longest unbeaten run as a manager from the start of a Premier League career (previously held by Frank Clark with Nottingham Forest in 1994).
Alvaro Morata led the line after his brace at Crystal Palace but was ineffective this time out, being caught offside five times (a Premier League record) and generally offering little threat up front.
While Sarri has previously praised the former Real Madrid man for having ‘great physical potential’, the player did nothing to back that up as he continually went down easily and was dominated by the Toffees’ Yerry Mina.
The Spaniard is somewhat of an oddity – just when he looks like rediscovering his form he has another stinker of a game, as he did on Sunday, and is now subject to criticism from fans this week once again.

Dont ever want to hear “Morata has turned a corner” again. Hes junk and will be the reason we dont challenge for the title.

He gave us some hope with his recent performances, only to crush our expectations against Everton. That man will go down and cry even if the wind hits any part of his body. Too frustrated with him! @AlvaroMorata

I really want to support him. Was getting frustrated with how many fans were on his back when he was clearly having a crisis of confidence. Today though he was lazy and obnoxious and cost the team, struggling to defend him!
