According to Goal.com, Barcelona are interested in signing Chelsea wing-back Marcos Alonso in this summer's transfer window.

The report claims that Barcelona see Alonso as a potential replacement for Gerard Pique, with the Catalan giants believing that they can mould the Spaniard into a centre-back.

Alonso was excellent for Chelsea last season, but the wing-back's performances have been called into question this term, and it is thought that he could move on in this summer's transfer window.

The 27-year-old, who is valued at £31.5m by transfermarkt.co.uk, is in contention to travel with the Spain squad for the 2018 World Cup, however, and his reputation has gone from strength to strength since moving to Chelsea.

The Premier League club's supporters have been debating the future of the former Bolton Wanderers defender on social media.

There are plenty that have urged the Blues to keep hold of Alonso, but there are also those that feel their club should cash in at the end of the season.
