Chelsea fans decide to back Conte following FA Cup triumph

The knives have been out many times for Chelsea manager Antonio Conte this season.

Fans have bashed the Italian coach on social media following unsavoury results.

A large number urged Conte to be sacked after the team were beaten 3-0 by Newcastle United on the final day of the season.

Chelsea knew that wins over Huddersfield and Newcastle in their last two fixtures of the Premier League campaign would give them a chance of finishing inside the top four.

However, the team picked up just one point from a possible six, which left them fifth in the standings.

Their season has been a far cry from the 2016-17 campaign when they romped to the title in Conte’s first year in charge.

Due to the club’s failure to defend their crown, questions have been raised over the longevity of the manager’s role at Stamford Bridge.

Despite the failed league campaign, Chelsea ended the season with silverware as they defeated Manchester United 1-0 in the FA Cup final.

Eden Hazard was the difference as he netted from the penalty spot in the first half.

After the match, Conte discussed his future, but it did not sound too promising as he told the BBC that he will “respect” whatever decision the club’s board make.

Chelsea fans have now changed their tune, and want the former Juventus boss, who has won four league titles in his management career, to stay put.
