Just how many players do Chelsea still have on their books? The Blues have notoriously been big players in the loan market when it comes to their academy starlets and whilst some don't work out, there are a few who come back ready-made for the first-team.

After spending the entirety of last season on loan at Eredivisie side SBV Vitesse, it is easy to forget how highly-rated Jake Clarke-Salter actually is.

The centre-back has been lauded as one of Chelsea's brightest academy prospects in recent years, and as well as being named in the England U21 squad for the European Championships this summer, he will also be given the honour of captaining the side.

Upon hearing the news, many Chelsea fans took to Twitter to sing the praises of the 21-year-old, and felt that Clarke-Salter's captaincy was another example of how good he could potentially be for the club.

Indeed, some urged potential new manager Frank Lampard to give the young defender a chance in the first-team next season and even claimed he could usurp David Luiz at centre-back.

But while many were hopeful that he could finally have a crack in the Chelsea side next season, some were a lot less optimistic and felt he could be sent out on loan again.
