Chelsea fans delighted to see Alvaro Morata end his goal drought

Chelsea secured a massive three points in the English Premier League on Sunday, beating Manchester United 1-0 at Stamford Bridge.

Alvaro Morata was the hero of the afternoon, ending a six-match goalless run to delight the home support and give manager Antonio Conte a much-needed win.

The Spaniard played superbly throughout but it was his header past David De Gea from a Cesar Azpilicueta cross that had everyone on their feet, the kind of stunning contribution that wins matches at this level.

Blues supporters were beginning to worry about his form given he hadn’t netted since an away win vs Atletico Madrid in September.

They’ll now be hoping he can go on another extended scoring run and continue to justify his big summer transfer. Overall, he has eight goals for the club this season.

Now just a point behind Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United, can Morata inspire a consistency in results that will allow them to overtake that duo and set their sights on league leaders Manchester City?
