Chelsea fans were delighted with the impact of Callum Hudson-Odoi as he came off the bench during the club’s 2-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday.
Jorginho had given the Blues the lead at Stamford Bridge from the penalty spot after Mason Mount was fouled in the box.
But manager Frank Lampard introduced Hudson-Odoi, who recently signed a new contract at the club, just after the hour mark.
And the 18-year-old had an instant impact, laying on the assist for Willian’s second goal as Lampard recorded his first home league win as manager.
It was the teenager’s first Premier League appearance of the season, having battled an Achilles injury throughout the first few games of the campaign. He did play 90 minutes in the Carabao Cup thumping of Grimsby Town in midweek, scoring in the 7-1 win.
And fans were quick to lavish praise on the England international at the final whistle.

Great result could have been more tbh. Great to see Hudson odoi back with an assist as well

Hudson Odoi is going right to the top. The way he played when he came on was sensational, it’s like he was never injured in the first place. Reminded me on Hazard today with his dribbling and awareness. Just needs to start adding more goals and assists to his name

Hudson Odoi sharper than before
Team looked good today

Hudson-Odoi gave us a glimpse into our future today! The future is bright and the future is not orange…its blue! ?
Once these players develop and flourish, the league won't be ready with what's going to hit them. Liverpool & City, enjoy your time in the sun. We're coming…

Routine win. Job done, three points. Not a bad performance either. Hudson-Odoi completely changed the game when he came on as well. Tammy putting in a serious shift despite not scoring too. Positive day?

Hudson-odoi needs to be in the starting lineup from now on, Pulisic deserve to have equal chances to play just as Willian bcoz Willian isn't that better. Barkley shouldn't be starting ahead of Kovacic else forth. #CFC #CHEBHA

The improvement in our play was massive once Hudson-Odoi came on. He created a lot of problem for Brighton with his pace and directness. A good assist and a brilliant cameo off the bench.

This game just showed how important Jorginho and Hudson Odoi are to this Chelsea team. Still need to be more clinical but the bonus of the clean sheet shows some steps in the right direction. #CHEBHA https://t.co/FroUHs9jfH
