Chelsea fans divided on whether Bakayoko should start against Southampton

Chelsea play host to Southampton at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, and Blues fans are divided on whether Tiemoue Bakayoko should start in midfield.

The Blues come into this clash in third position and 14 points behind Premier League leaders Manchester City, and Antonio Conte would have been pleased with how his side bounced back from a 1-0 defeat against West Ham United at the London Stadium last weekend to beat Huddersfield Town 3-1 away on Tuesday night.

Bakayoko has struggled to impress for the west London outfit following his summer move from Monaco, and he was an unused substitute against Swansea City last month, a late substitute against Newcastle United in the following match before he was hauled off at half-time against the Irons last Saturday.

However, the 23-year-old played the full 90 minutes and scored against the Terriers in midweek, but Chelsea supporters are still divided on whether he should take his place in the starting XI against the Saints.

While one said he “needs this game to consolidate his self-confidence”, another hasn’t been won over and believes it will be a “good line-up today as long as Bakayoko doesn’t start”.

Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction…
