Not many would have tipped Ross Barkley to be an influential figure in the Chelsea team following his January move from Everton.

The midfielder arrived at the West London outfit injured having missed the first half of the 2017-18 season with a hamstring problem.

He only made a handful of appearances under then-manager Antonio Conte before the campaign came to an end.

With Maurizio Sarri now at the helm, though, Barkley has found a new lease of life.

The midfielder, who has received plenty of criticism from Everton fans for leaving, is now fully fit and has featured in all but one of Chelsea's Premier League matches.

On Sunday, the 24-year-old shone as he provided an assist and scored a goal in the Blues' 3-0 victory over Southampton at St Mary's.

The midfielder became the first English player for Chelsea since Frank Lampard in 2013 to bag a goal and assist in the same match.

It was the ideal week for Barkley as he was also welcomed back into the England fold for upcoming internationals.

After the win over Southampton, the midfielder took to Twitter to deliver his thoughts, and he received plenty of praise from Chelsea fans.
