Mateo Kovacic was linked to numerous Premier League clubs during the summer transfer window, but in the end he moved to Chelsea on a season-long loan from Real Madrid.

All eyes are on manager Maurizio Sarri following his appointment as Antonio Conte's successor.

The former Napoli boss recruited four new players, including Jorginho, who was heavily linked with a switch to Manchester City.

Kovacic was also rumoured to be on the radar of the reigning Premier League champions, but he has decided to test himself at Stamford Bridge.

On Saturday in the late kickoff, Kovacic was handed his debut as a 60th-minute substitute, replacing Ross Barkley.

The game was at 2-2 when the midfielder was introduced, and during his cameo, the Blues were able to snatch all three points thanks to an 81st-minute goal from Marcos Alonso.

It is unclear how much Kovacic will feature during his loan spell, but after his appearance against Arsenal, some Chelsea fans have raised their expectations.
