The former England international has reportedly agreed a contract with the Blues, but it is thought to be 48 hours away from being made public.

And it is no secret that the 41-year-old has wanted to replace Maurizio Sarri since the Italian’s departure from Stamford Bridge more than two weeks ago.

Juventus’ new boss finished last season with a third place in the Premier League and a Europa League winners’ medal, but still he only lasted a single campaign in west London.

Now, the arrival of Lampard is at a time of difficulty given the transfer ban put in place by FIFA and the loss of Eden Hazard to Real Madrid.
