Chelsea travelled to St Mary’s to face struggling Southampton in a dress rehearsal for next Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final at Wembley looking to keep their noses ahead of Arsenal in the race for fifth place

The Gunners are just three points behind their London rivals as the Blues have endured a torrid time since the turn of the year and it is certainly Arsene Wenger’s men with all the momentum heading into the closing stages of the season.

That match at Wembley is now Chelsea’s biggest game of the season, but Antonio Conte still fielded a strong side in pursuit of some form and confidence ahead of a busy week which sees them travel to Turfmoor before their Wembley date with the Saints.

It looked set to be another bad result for the Blues in the day’s early kick off as Dusan Tadic’s first-half goal and a second half strike from Jan Bednarek put the Saints 2-0 up but three goals in eight minutes snatched all three points.
