Chelsea's hopes of finishing in the top four of the English Premier League this season took a major blow on Sunday, suffering a 3-1 defeat at home to London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

Antonio Conte's side badly needed a win to keep pace with the teams in UEFA Champions League qualifying spots but now lie eight points adrift of fourth placed Spurs.

Taking the lead through Alvaro Morata on the half hour mark, it looked like it could be a pleasing afternoon for Blues fans, but a Christian Eriksen equaliser on the stroke of half-time and a Dele Alli double in the second half destroyed any hope of a result.

Supporters were left bitterly disappointed with the performance and had particular criticism for defender Andreas Christensen after his readiness for games of this magnitude again came into sharp focus.
