Chelsea fans keen for Giroud to start ahead of Morata following outing against Palace

Olivier Giroud’s arrival at Chelsea in January sparked a negative reaction from plenty of supporters.

The West London outfit were linked with numerous forward players throughout the month, but they eventually landed the hitman from Arsenal.

So far, Giroud has had to settle for the position as back-up striker, much like he did in his final few seasons at Arsenal.

In six appearances in all competitions for the Blues, the Frenchman is yet to play a full 90 minutes.

Giroud has found the back of the net, though, and also has three assists to his name.

In the late kickoff on Saturday, the 31-year-old was handed a starting spot, but was substituted after 72 minutes.

Despite failing to score in Chelsea’s 2-1 victory, Giroud impressed plenty of fans, who felt that he was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet following numerous attempts.

With a crucial Champions League last-16 tie against Barcelona coming up next week, many supporters feel that the forward should be picked by manager Antonio Conte instead of Alvaro Morata, who has not scored in any of his last 11 appearances.
