Willian was awarded the honour of captaining the Chelsea side in their opening Europa League match at PAOK on Thursday in the place of Eden Hazard, who was left at home by Maurizio Sarri to rest.

Chelsea fans were greatly impressed with how the Brazilian went about his task of leading the Blues. Willian, who earns £120,000-a-week according to Total Sportek, scored the only goal of the match as Chelsea walked away with a 1-0 victory in front of an electric atmosphere in Thessaloniki.

The 30-year-old found the back of the net as early as the sixth minute after an excellent break out by the Chelsea team, with Ross Barkley providing a good assist.

Chelsea could’ve added a few more goals after that but for poor execution by centre forward Alvaro Morata. Willian could, however, be Chelsea’s regular captain in the competition if Hazard is rested on a regular basis by Sarri.
