The life of a back-up goalkeeper must at times be a difficult one.

You spend your career - or at least parts of it - knowing that, as long as the first-choice is fit, you are unlikely to get a chance to start and will definitely be overlooked for the most important games. Yet you need to go to training each and every day and prove yourself, just on the odd chance that your "rival" may pull up with an injury and you'll need to step into the breach.

Chelsea's Willy Caballero finds himself in that position currently. Kepa Arrizabalaga is the Blues' undisputed number one, and the former Argentina international must make do with the scraps. Since joining in 2017, the 37-year-old has made just 22 appearances in all competitions, with just five coming in the Premier League.

After breaching FFP, how have Man City avoided being hit with a transfer ban like Chelsea? Find out in the video below...

However, the former Manchester City shot-stopper does not seem too disappointed with his lot at Stamford Bridge. He said in an interview with Enganche, “Being here [at Chelsea] even if I don’t get to play, I push on and I try to achieve my best form to be able to contribute in my own way."

He went on to add, "sometimes a team needs you more off the pitch than on, and you are just as important."

It is fair to the say that the Blues supporters are delighted with his comments, and some have taken to Twitter to share their thoughts. You can see some of the best comments below.
