Chelsea fans prove there is no love lost as Courtois completes Real Madrid move

Thibaut Courtois lost a few Chelsea fans towards the end of last season as he lacked the stunning form the supporters were used to.

Following the arrival of Maurizio Sarri as manager, doubts began to creep in regarding the goalkeeper’s future.

For a while, the Belgium international has been mentioned in the same breath as Real Madrid.

A move to the Bernabeu became a much more realistic possibility over the last few days, particularly after the Blues signed Kepa Arrizabalaga, and Courtois finally got his wish on Thursday as Los Blancos confirmed his arrival via Twitter.

The fee for the 26-year-old, who is valued at £58.5m by Transfermarkt, has not been disclosed, but Chelsea fans are not concerning themselves with that part of the deal.

A large number of the Premier League club’s following have been left angered by the manner of Courtois’s exit.

The shot-stopper had an extended holiday after reaching the semi-finals of the World Cup in Russia.

Courtois was due to report to training on Monday, but was absent, and now he has sealed a move away from Stamford Bridge.

Despite the goalkeeper being part of the club since 2011, some Chelsea fans had some harsh words for Courtois on Twitter.
