Chelsea fans react as Blues announce Zola departure

One of the biggest highlights of Maurizio Sarri’s arrival at Stamford Bridge last summer was the return to west London of club legend Gianfranco Zola.

The former Italy midfielder became the side’s assistant manager, but following Sarri’s exit, Zola’s long-term future at the club became uncertain.

Now, Chelsea have confirmed that the fan favourite will leave Stamford Bridge as new manager Frank Lampard brings about the appointments of his own backroom staff.

After hearing the news of Zola’s departure, Blues fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the matter and many were rather disappointed to see him go.

Many supporters of the west London club wished the Italian the best of luck going forward and thanked him for his part in helping the side win the Europa League earlier this year.

Indeed, some even expressed their hope that Zola could have perhaps stayed on at the club under Lampard, and revealed their disappointment at seeing his time at Stamford Bridge cut short after just a year.
