Chelsea fans react as Callum Hudson-Odoi inspires Checkatrade Trophy win

Chelsea became the first academy team to reach the semi-finals of the Checkatrade Trophy when they beat League One Oxford United 3-0 at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night, and Blues fans were quick to praise Callum Hudson-Odoi for another impressive and influential performance.

The Blues’ U21 side were looking to reach the last four in front of first-team manager Antonio Conte, who was watching from the stands, and the Italian would have been impressed with many of the young players, including Hudson-Odoi.

The 17-year-old picked up two assists to carry on his fine run of form – he scored two and assisted three against West Bromwich Albion U18s last time out, while he scored a hat-trick for the U23s against Sunderland previously.

Chelsea supporters took to social media to give their thoughts on the forward’s latest display, and while one said “Callum Hudson-Odoi is the future of football”, another described him as “the most talented player on the pitch”.
