Chelsea fans react as club lines up move for Tottenham defendr Toby Alderweireld

According to reports in The Mirror, Chelsea have joined Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain in the race to sign Tottenham Hotspur contract rebel Toby Alderweireld this summer, and Blues fans have been quick to have their say on the rumour.

The Mirror says that the 29-year-old has been left out by Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino in recent weeks despite being fit, with the two parties unable to come to an agreement over a new deal with the club unwilling to meet the Belgium international’s £150,000-a-week wage demands.

The report adds that the futures of the west London outfit’s defenders Gary Cahill, who the Stamford Bridge faithful don’t want to see in the XI despite a recent drop in form for Andreas Christensen, and David Luiz are currently up in the air, meaning the Premier League holders could be looking for a new central defender in the upcoming transfer window.

Chelsea supporters have taken to social media to give their thoughts on the story, and while one said “we don’t need him”, another said “let Cahill and Luiz go, bring back Zouma and sign Toby”.
