A key part of the Premier League winning side with Leicester back in 2016, it's safe to say that Danny Drinkwater's career hasn't quite gone to plan since making the move down south to Chelsea.

The England international has been on the fringes of the Blues squad since making a big-money move to Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2017, and last season was a complete and utter disaster for him.

The 29-year-old's solitary first-team appearance came in the Community Shield, and he was essentially forgotten about for the rest of the campaign.

However, following the arrival of Frank Lampard as manager, Drinkwater has been called into action and has featured in four out of the five matches the Blues have played so far.

Reports had previously suggested Drinkwater could be on his way out of Stamford Bridge this summer, but The Evening Standard now claim that due to a lack of "concrete offers", he looks set to remain at the club for the foreseeable future.

After hearing the latest developments regarding the midfielder's future, Chelsea fans took to Twitter to voice their thoughts on the matter and many were seemingly frustrated.

Some questioned the 29-year-old's "ambition" by staying at a club where he isn't playing at all, whilst others simply labelled him the "worst signing" of the Roman Abramovich era.
