After reports in recent weeks suggested Frank Lampard was inching ever closer to officially being named Chelsea's next manager, the youth academy players are surely amongst those who are most excited by the club legend's potential arrival.

The Blues are facing the prospect of a two-window transfer ban and are likely going to have to lean on their younger stars for this season. Tammy Abraham who spent the season on loan at Championship side Aston Villa last year, was open in his excitement at perhaps finally getting a chance at Stamford Bridge under Lampard's guidance.

One academy man who won't however be a part of the Blues' future going forward is Jay Dasilva, after the left-back was confirmed to have signed a permanent deal to join Bristol City.

The news saw Chelsea fans take to Twitter and many were left bitterly disappointed by the decision taken by the England U21 international.

Many empathised with Dasilva's search for first-team football and criticised the Blues for failing to adequately give their youngsters a fair chance.

Indeed, some pointed to the 21-year-old's departure as being a warning sign to the club and urged them to approach their academy in a different way.
