Having impressed on loan at Derby last year, it appears Mason Mount may finally be getting his chance at Chelsea next season.

The England U21 international enjoyed a fine campaign at Pride Park, scoring 11 goals and providing a further six assists in 44 games across all competitions.

Now, the Evening Standard claim the prospective appointment of club legend Frank Lampard - who was Mount's manager at Derby - has had a major influence on convincing Chelsea's brightest young stars to sign new contracts at Stamford Bridge.

The report adds the club's hierarchy are keen on tying Mount down to 2024 with his new deal, and news of the midfielder's future saw Chelsea fans take to Twitter to share their thoughts on the matter.

Many were understandably excited by the idea of the 20-year-old finally putting pen to paper and hailed him as one of the club's best "talents".

Others however were rather more cautious over Mount's new contract and questioned whether the Blues would be throwing a whole load more money for a young player who had not even proven himself at the highest level yet.
