As the early weeks of Frank Lampard’s reign at Chelsea continues, the situation surrounding the club’s use of its highly-rated academy players has certainly been intriguing.
One man who impressed whilst out on loan last year with Wigan, and has been touted as a future Chelsea regular, is Reece James. According to the latest reports though, the right-back is the subject of keen interest from another Premier League outfit.
According to The Daily Star, Chelsea have rejected a bid in the region of £20m for the 19-year-old from Crystal Palace as they see the full-back as a “prospect for the future” and are unwilling to part ways with him.
After hearing the news, Chelsea fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the matter and many were seemingly unsurprised that the club that had turned an offer down for the full-back.
Many Blues supporters felt James had the potential to be a “Chelsea legend” and that he was the “future” of the club.
Indeed, some fans even urged Palace to come back with an offer with all of the reported £50m they got from selling Aaron Wan-Bissaka to Manchester United before they would even contemplate selling James.
Check out some of the reaction of Chelsea fans below:
