Perhaps one of the ultimate symbols of Chelsea’s convoluted history with loans in recent years, Mario Pasalic has played 165 games since joining the club in 2014; none of them however have been for the Blues.
The 24-year-old has spent the majority of his time out on loan to various clubs abroad and enjoyed an impressive campaign last year at Atalanta.
The midfielder helped the Italian side to a third-placed finish in Serie A and scored eight times in his 42 appearances across all competitions. Now, Chelsea have confirmed that Pasalic has signed a new contract with the west London side before returning to Atalanta for another season-long loan.

After hearing that the Croatian had penned a new deal with the club, Chelsea fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the matter and it provoked a seemingly divided reaction.
Some supporters felt that it was a complete waste of money to offer a new deal to someone who was seemingly not in their plans and questioned why they hadn’t sold him yet.
Others however were slightly more open to Pasalic’s long-term future at the club and insisted that his increased game-time and experience could only benefit Chelsea in the end, with a couple of shouts even suggesting he is better than current midfielders Ross Barkley and Danny Drinkwater.

One very good news not being talked about much is Mario Pasalic signing new contract. He’s a top lad and will get better playing in the Champions League with Atalanta. Happy we didn’t sell him
