The recent poor form of Alvaro Morata and the criticism of the expensively-recruited Spaniard brought to mind the time Fernando Torres spent at Chelsea.

The 110-cap Spanish international had the same criticisms levelled at him as Morata has endured this season; he is too nice, not sharp or physical enough to be a Stamford Bridge striker and can't handle the step up.

Morata is not on the same level that Torres was when he came to Chelsea but there were certainly similarities in their treatment and in the way that they both lost their way and confidence at Stamford Bridge.

Torres has now returned to Atletico Madrid but it is clear that the Chelsea fans still regard him with affection, in no small part due to the goal he scored in the Nou Camp that ensured the Blues made it to the 2012 Champions League final.
