The League Cup could have been a great chance for Frank Lampard and Chelsea to win their first trophy together since the 41-year-old returned to Stamford Bridge in the summer.
However, they will now have to wait until next season to have another crack at the trophy after losing to Manchester United in the fourth round of this year’s edition. Marcus Rashford scored a brace, including a stunning free-kick and, although Michy Batshuayi scored with a well-hit effort from outside the box, the Blues were unable to make true use of the 65% possession they had.
Was Maurizio Sarri’s departure from Chelsea the best thing that could have happened to the club? Find out why in the video below…
In this match, Lampard rotated his squad, meaning that several fringe players were granted starts.
There were some who featured from the bench, such as Pedro, as well. However, the former Barcelona man, who was signed for £21m from the Catalan side in 2015, did not impress.
The club’s fans were far from happy with his display, and they took to Twitter to share their thoughts. You can see some of the best comments from the social media platform below.
Pedro came on and instantly my optimism dropped, he has won everything in his career and has been a top professional but it’s time to call it day.
Personally have nothing against him but surely his time as a Chelsea player is nearly over.

Not nearly, it’s over! Literally cost us the game .kept running around aimlessly, committed unnecessary foul. He belongs to the MLS now.

Unfortunately, Pedro is finished. The quicker we find a replacement, the better.
