Manchester United winger Anthony Martial, who earns £65,000-a-week according to The Telegraph, was once again left out of the starting XI for the FA Cup final clash against Chelsea on Saturday despite Romelu Lukaku only being fit enough for a spot on the substitutes’ bench, and Blues fans have urged their club to sign the winger this summer – especially if they appoint Leonardo Jardim as their new manager.
The France international has endured a miserable few months following the arrival of Alexis Sanchez during the January transfer window and then missing out on a place in his country’s 23-man squad for the World Cup in Russia, and he was only given 17 minutes to make an impact at Wembley by Jose Mourinho.
Meanwhile, the trophy for Antonio Conte may not be enough to keep him in a job given their fifth-place finish in the Premier League and Jardim, who worked with Martial when he was with Monaco, is one of the frontrunners to replace the Italian.
Chelsea supporters, who hailed a 6ft 4in tall star on Twitter after the FA Cup triumph, were quick to have their say on Martial via social media, and while one said he “would be very good under Jardim”, another said “@ChelseaFC must do everything in their power to sign #Martial!”
Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction…
Yup. Guys like Martial are ones we should be going after. Integrate the youth, buy Under-23s, etc. It's why I'd be fine with a guy like Jardim being manager. His teams have been decimated and, from what I've watched, I fancy his style of play.

Anthony Martial: With him wanting out at Man Utd and Willian going the other way he would be a great signing. Young and would be very good under Jardim. Would be a good signing. pic.twitter.com/KPNsmluLT8

Jardim needed at Chelsea. He trusts the youth so much and gets the best out of them. If we will be going in for Martial too, then he's the best to get him going. Very decent looking man too

Jardim should be the club’s priority. Disposing of inconsistent 30 year old Willian and swapping him for Martial next. Incorporate youth and give them a baptism of fire in the Europa League next season. Pull the trigger, Roman. CONTE OUT.
