Kylian Mbappe was the talk of the Twittersphere after his performance for France against Argentina at the World Cup in Russia on Saturday.
The 19-year-old Paris Saint-Germain star proved that despite his age he can cope with the pressure of performing on the global stage.
Mbappe found the back of the net twice in a highly entertaining 4-3 victory over Argentina in their last-16 clash.
The forward signed for PSG from Monaco last season on loan, but will permanently join the French outfit for a fee in excess of £100m.
If a club were going to prise Mbappe away from Parc des Princes, then they would have to table a world-record figure.
Chelsea fans were certainly impressed with the forward’s display in Russia, and plenty took to Twitter to urge the club to make an audacious move.
Others were left frustrated by news that the Blues rejected the chance to sign him as an 11-year-old, as reported by football.london.
Welcome to Chelsea Mbappe

So Mbappe did a trial for Chelsea when he was 11 years old & even played a match for our youth team but clearly we didn’t see him as much of a talent!!! Brilliant Chels! ?Did our coaches watch him with their eyes closed FFS!!

We could have had Mbappe at Chelsea but we choose to develop Tammy Abraham instead.
I’m not crying, sand entered my eyes.
