According to reports in The Mirror, the attacker has a release clause of £12m in his contract with the Potters following their relegation to the Championship, and he could well be in demand this summer.

The former Bayern Munich and Inter Milan was particularly impressive for his country in Kaliningrad, where he hit the woodwork with a brilliant curling effort before he ran from the halfway line and netted the winner with just minutes left to play.

Chelsea supporters, who don't want the club to sign another £81m attacker, were quick to have their say on Shaqiri's latest display via social media, and while one said he is "much better than Willian and scores more than Hazard", another said "if we sign Shaqiri he'll be such a massive improvement on Willian and Pedro".
