Chelsea fans want Ake back at Stamford Bridge

Whilst there is a belief that it could change under new manager Frank Lampard, there have been few Chelsea academy players who have made the grade at Stamford Bridge in recent years.

That is not to say that some of them haven’t done well for themselves away from the Blues, though. One who has impressed since moving on from SW6 is Nathan Ake.

The Netherlands international, who now has 10 caps for his country, made just 17 appearances for Chelsea before he joined Bournemouth in 2017. During his time with the Cherries, he has played in every single one of their Premier League games and even won the club’s Supporters’ Player of the Season award in 2018.

His performances have prompted talk of a potential transfer to Leicester City, with his current club valuing him at £75m. However, the Blues could bring him back to the club for a lot less as they have a reported £40m buy-back option for the 24-year-old.

And the South-West London outfit’s fans look as though they would be delighted to see the defender return. They have shared their excitement on Twitter, and you can see some of the best reactions below…
