At the start of the season, it seemed unlikely that Ruben Loftus-Cheek would get anywhere near the Chelsea first team.

Plenty of hope surrounded the midfielder in the summer after he impressed for England at the World Cup.

However, Maurizio Sarri opted not to include the 22-year-old in the early stages of the season.

Loftus-Cheek has had to bide his time, but at the weekend he was given a chance to shine.

The midfielder, who is valued at £16.2m by Transfermarkt, played an hour of the Blues' Premier League match against Burnley and he contributed with a goal in the 4-0 rout.

Loftus-Cheek has been on Chelsea's books since 2004 when he joined their academy.

Last season he spent time on loan at Crystal Palace, and there were suggestions from some fans on social media that he should leave in January due to his lack of first-team minutes.

After Sunday's performance against Burnley, some Chelsea supporters believe that Loftus-Cheek can be a key member of the team, and he could potentially even be a long-term replacement for Willian on the right wing.
