The Premier League kicks off next week, but the first piece of top-level action was staged on Sunday afternoon in the form of the Community Shield between Manchester City and Chelsea.

It was a delightful few hours at Wembley for City fans, but there are plenty of concerned faces among the Chelsea faithful.

The Blues were beaten 2-0 by Pep Guardiola's side, and there was a gulf between the two teams in terms of performance.

Chelsea were lacklustre, sloppy and failed to make an impact up front, with Alvaro Morata leading the line.

At the back it was not much better as the West London outfit were cut open numerous times.

It was a disappointing start to Maurizio Sarri's reign as manager, and it proved that he needs to dip into the transfer market before the window closes next Thursday.

The coach's attacking philosophy was not demonstrated well at Wembley, which shows that he has plenty of work to do.

Some fans noticed that, too, and even though there were groups who turned on Sarri via social media, plenty targeted the players and expressed concern for the new man in charge.
