Chelsea forward keen to return to Spain amid Premier League struggles

Chelsea forward Diego Costa has his heart set on a return to Atletico Madrid, according to reports in the Daily Star.

The Spanish international moved to London in 2014 after leading the Madrid side to a La Liga title and the Champions League final under Diego Simeone.

He had spearheaded Jose Mourinho’s frontline as the Blues won their first Premier League title in five years last season, though has struggled to replicate his 20 goal form this term.

The fiery forward has netted just twice in ten games, and is apparently unhappy on these shores.

The Premier League champions are 16th in table, having lost seven of their opening twelve fixtures this season amid suggestions of a dressing room fall out.

Despite being born in Brazil, the 26-year old striker opted to represent Spain after spending his formative footballing years there, and is a regular in the La Roja squad.

Reports indicate that Blues owner Roman Abramovich is happy to let the Spaniard leave, reportedly looking at other attacking options for his side.
