Chelsea are expected to welcome back John Terry, Gary Cahill and Ramires for the clash with Southampton this weekend.
Terry has had a tough time on the injury front this season and has hardly figured since interim boss Rafael Benitez took charge, but the international break has come at the right time, and the defender is now fit and raring to go.
The Blues skipper looks sure to start against Saints this weekend, while Fernando Torres, Marko Marin, Paulo Ferreira and Ryan Bertrand, the only other players who have not been on international duty, could also figure.
“Every time when a player is injured then he needs time to come back,” Benitez said. “This break is important. He was training with the team – you have a plan and can keep an eye on him.
“We had just five players, we could pay more attention to everyone. He was positive and it was positive in terms of the time we had with him.”
Ramires and Cahill have also been struggling with injury but both are expected to be included in the squad that takes on Saints and then embarks on another three games in the space of a week.
