Chelsea haven’t given up on signing Bundesliga ace

Dortmund forward Lewandowski

Chelsea will attempt to sign Polish striker Robert Lewandowski in January, reports the Daily Mail.

The 25-year-old is set to leave Borussia Dortmund in the summer when his contract expires.

But despite heavy rumours suggesting he has agreed to join Bayern Munich at the end of the season, Lewandowski has said no such deal has been made. This could be good news for Bayern boss Pep Guardiola too, as he is reportedly unsure whether he wants the Pole at the Allianz Arena.

But Jose Mourinho does want Lewandowksi, and is set to offer the forward a place at Stamford Bridge, despite having Eto’o, Torres and Ba already at the club, whilst Lukaku is playing on loan at Everton.

The striker, who scored a hat trick against Real Madrid in the Champions League Semi-final 1st leg last season, has been linked with a move to Manchester United in the past. However, the Red Devils are now likely to turn their focus on getting Wayne Rooney to sign a new contract, instead of bidding for the Polish forward.

Dortmund face losing Lewandowski for free in the summer if they fail to sell him during the January transfer window, suggesting that the striker could be leaving the Westfalenstadion for a cut-price fee.
